ABSTRACT

Samples of well water were collected from four (4) different wells  located in different parts of New Haven in Enugu urban area, for  bacteriological analysis. Total bacterial counts, using pour plate  method were carried out. Nutrient agar plates were used for  general bacterial count, while MacConkey agar plates were used  for total coliform count. The four different wells that were  examined showed different bacterial counts. A total of four  different bacteria were isolated.  The bacteria isolated and  identified included: Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp, Staphylococcus aureus, and Bacillus spp.
